4 Days and No Bags

Hello Friends! Greetings again from Lome Togo. When we last spoke I was on my way to meet the Ambassador. Well, something came up and we did not get to meet on Friday - but - his wife invited me to a dinner at their house on Saturday night. The entire hispanic community came and we ate tacos and platanos and the requirment was that we all had to speak Spanish! It was real nice. After the dinner, several of the American took me around to some clubs. We went to a really swanky jazz club with a band that played everything from jazz funk to Phil Collins.

Also, Saturday was the first day of campaigns for the legislative elections. Everyone was real excited. Horns and whistles and drums.... each party trying to rally support for their cause. There were many gatherings and parades around the city.

Sunday - the beach. Wow. The breeze felt so nice.

So, no bags yet and we are not allowed to bring electronic devices into the Embassy for security reasons- so no photos yet. But don't worry. I am working out a deal with the owners of the building in which I live to get internet in my apartment soon. Hopefully by the end of the month. Things go much slower here than back home.

Finally... I got a cell phone. I get free incoming calls (FYI)
to dial out of the United States> dial 011
Togo Country Code (228)
My Number 011-1852
SO.... that's 011.228.011.18.52
