The Republic of Zanzibar is an island in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Technically, part of Tanzania - Zanzibar requires all visitors to the island to check in at customs and you even get a really cool stamp in your passport.I took this photo from a rooftop in Stonetown, Zanzibar on Christmas day. No bats - but beautiful nonetheless.
For the record - yes, I took the picture of the lion.

i kind of knew you took that photo, just thought it was fantastic how you could witness such untamed beauty...
yeag.. it was amazing.. we were driving down the road and the driver was like, hey look a dead buffalo... and I looked over and I said, it that a lion under the tree?
just right there. no fence. nothing separating us. us, a dead buffalo and a lion.
the next day, we drive back by the spot on our way back to dar and I took that photo..
crazy.
