Mission Accomplished

Next stop - Paris.  No photos for now - I'm too tired.  Just got back from Kpalime and another successful week work workshops.  I am scheduled to board Air France tomorrow evening at 2200 GMT.  Thank you all for your kind comments, emails and words of support.

Here is a copy of the speech I wrote and delivered at the Closing Ceremony today:

Dear Kloto District Commisioner, Mr. Lemou
Representative of the Director of DIFOP, Mr. Akuetey and DIFOP Colleagues
Chairge d'Affaires at the American Embassy in Togo, Ambassador Twining
Representative of the Regional Director of Education, Mr. Wokadan
Fellow English Teachers,

Thank you all for coming to the closing ceremony of the Tove Seminar for Technical High School Teachers of English.  For the past two weeks, first in Kara and this week in Tove, I have had the pleasure of working, teaching and learning with a very fine group of English teachers and Trainers.

I would like to thank the Togolese government for supporting our program and teacher development throughout Togo.

I would also like to thank the US Embassy for sponsoring our program and promoting teacher development in Togo.

Teacher training is important because these are the people who are educating our youth, and as we all know, our youth are out future.

Finally, I would like to thank my fellow English teacher colleagues for their dedication and hard work not only here in the seminar, but also in the field.  I encourage you to continue working together, building relationships and sharing information, resources and experiences.

It is my sincere hope that such teacher training workshops will continue to take place in Togo for years to come and that the US and Togolese governments continue to work together to support our teachers and our future.

Thank you.

Kevin Brown
English Language Fellow, Togo
Directeur du Seminaire
