More Senegal

Hey Friends,
I heard there was a nasty ice storm in Kentucky and things are tough there. I am sorry and am thinking of you all.

Tonight is my last night in Dakar, Senegal. A very interesting trip. While here I had a chance to visit Goree island which is off the coast of Senegal. It was a Slave trade hub for several hundred years. The first photo is me standing in the "point of no return" in the old slave fortress. Once the slaves went through this door... they never came back. (Thus the name).

I also spent quite a bit of time with my colleagues talking about being an English Language Fellow. Erin travelled the farthest - she came from Ethiopia. Wow. We worked on developing teaching materials for Africa and presented workshops at the Suffolk University in Dakar. That was such a great experience and all the teachers (100+) that we worked with were so nice.

Tomorrow - Togo.

Much love.
