The Tale of the Tumba Fly

We headed out of town on Friday afternoon, after my class for Notse. It was a pretty easy ride and we had a nice dinner of local street food. Saturday, Heather arranged for the chief of the neighborhood to take us into the bush on four motorcycles to a small village where we met the chief and poured libations for the ancestors in a mud hut with a grass thatched roof. Afterwards, we took a tour of the village (Pictures should be available at 100yearsoftrash.com)

Then comes the show.

Sunday we head to Badou to see the waterfalls... but the military keeps stopping us every couple of miles. Turns out Momar Khadaffi is coming through and we need to get out of his way.

I'll keep this short - We saw Khadaffi and the waterfalls - we danced to reggae in the night - we were detained at the borders for an hour - and detained in Northern Ghana for a total of 9 hours (with words exchanged) at a bus terminal. A 4 hour bus ride took 11 hours including numerous stops in the midst of the night and I came home with a Tumba Fly in my back.

I'm sorry Trash about the last 22 hours of travel ills. Overall, I hope you had a blast. Thanks for coming!
