AMERICA!

Hey Folks! Landed in DC at 4:30pm EST yesterday. The flight was long - but to my surprise several of my friends had a small dinner party for me with stuffed bell peppers, macaroni and cheese and tostitos!

I found this photo of me and my sis from last year on her computer (mine is still packed).

I also found this fantastic poster floating around town... looks lke we're going to have a little shin dig!

Fed Reunion in West Africa?

Rumors have recently been circulating West African ex-pat circles that there will be a reunion of sorts for former Washington DC based rock and roll band the fed. While sources have yet to confirm, the former drummer and guitarist/vocalist are said to be making plans to attend the popular restaurant/nightclub Regents in Lome, Togo on Sunday June 8, and may play a few songs with one of Lome's hottest jazz bands.

In other Lome music news... King Mensah and the Seeds will share the stage at the tonight at 17:30 for a free concert to benefit persons living with HIV/AIDS at the Palais du Congres.

Also tonight: 20:00 an Homage to Bob Marley at the French Cultural Center

thefedmusic.com

Most of you know that I played drums in DC for rock and roll band The Fed 2006-2007.

I received an email from GoDaddy.com that let me know that it is time to pay up or lose the domain name www.thefedmusic.com. Read the internet history here. Find more about thefedmusic.com here.

The time has come to say goodbye to my first website.

Thanks to all The Fed members, fans, friends and foes for all your support.

The Vunda-Land!

"You've got to try the Motor City chili dog. The only mistake I made was that I had one before we began our set (Sorry to Corey from the Fed who used my mic after us)"

~Michelle

*sigh* those were some fun days.

Photo Emulsion006

As these things go in my life, we are waist deep in a photo emulsion project. The image you see here is one of the final, but most crucial steps in the photo emulsion/silk screening process. We are attempting to burn the image created on a computer onto a screen, much like images are burned onto film in photography. This particular image was created by my friend Vagelatos as a logo for t-shirts for her Race for the Cure team (who will race this Saturday). If this works... the mass produced silk screen product will be posters for the June fed shows! Ahhh.... but for now, I must go pack my bags because I am headed off to Hard Bargain Farm in Accokeek Maryland for a two day field study of the Chesapeake Watershed.

The Fed [silk screen]

Inspired by the BORF exhibit/Bad Brains-BORF Print I bought this weekend, and motivated by the desire to enhance my silk screening skills. Next step - photo emulsion. Materials: cardboard, silk screen, screen printing ink. Size: 11.5" x 16"
